BRIEF HISTORY
Known originally as George Dorr Insurance Service, our independent agency was started about 1953 by George Dorr. For the first several years, George Dorr sold life insurance and had a small office in downtown Portland. He gradually started to add property and casualty insurance accounts. By 1960, he had moved the agency to the Bel Aire Shopping Center in Beaverton (corner of SW Lombard and Allen) and named it Beaverton Insurance Agency. By that time, the agency sold mostly property and casualty insurance. In July 1969, Beaverton Insurance Agency was incorporated, and ownership was expanded to include sons, John Dorr and Pat Dorr.
In 1971, the agency moved to Tigard, to our current location at 9770 S W Shady Lane, and started doing business as Beaverton-Tigard Insurance. George Dorr retired in 1984. John Dorr retired at the end of 2005. Pat Dorr is the current owner.
WHAT WE DO
As an independent agency, we are not affiliated with just one company. In 2009, our agency wrote personal and business insurance for thousands of customers through 62 different companies and managing general agencies.
We strive to give the best service we can to our customers in both English and Spanish. Seven of our staff are bilingual.
